Analogue or digital?

There is a main distinction between analogue and digital frame grabbers or image acquisition boards. In the analogue realm, cards with up to 16 inputs are well suited for surveillance applications. This also covers solutions outside of the established analogue video standard.

In the digital realm, the" Camera Link" and "GigE Vision" standards are well established. Providing the highest rate of image data transfer to host memory, these technologies are the ideal match for state-of-the-art, high resolution and high speed cameras.

Frame grabbers for Camera Link, GigE-Vision and other interfaces are available for the conventional motherboard slots (PCI, PCI-X, PCIe).
